Pillowcase Ministry

We are thankful to God for surrounding us with such love and compassion as we dealt with Jackson’s health issues and hospitalizations. It is through the many things so generously done for us as we traveled on Jackson’s Journey that this ministry was born. Family, Friends, our church, hospital staff and even strangers touched our hearts forever. They indeed showed us great comfort over those very trying months. People showed they cared in a lot of different ways.

Jackson knew he was surrounded by love and so did we! Now we would like to extend that love to others who are going on a similar journey and are in need of our support. With your help, we can touch lives just as ours were touched.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3

The purpose of Jacksons Web Ministry is to make custom pillow cases to minister to the children hospitalized on the Hematology/Oncology floor at the DeVos Children’s Hospital and to the sleep clinic where children undergo testing. Even small things such as a cheerful pillow case can brighten a day and make testing, meds, and even pain more bearable. We need your help to show these children that we do care! You can help by praying for the ministry and God’s blessing upon it and the children who are receiving the pillow cases.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

    Dear Jacksons Web,
Today my daughter Katelyn received her pillow case from Jackson’s ministry. What a beautiful way to share Jackson’s story.
This is my daughter’s second time with cancer. Katie had cancer when she was 12 and the ugly monster came back 10 years later. But with prayers and family and friends we are going to beat this.
As I sit writing this Katie is sleeping soundly on her new pillow case. She choose the one with flip flops on..a great one for a 22 year old.
Katie also received a pillow case 10 years ago. A mom to a chemo friend of hers back then gave it to her and she still sleeps with it.
Our family knows the lost of a young boy as we lost our 4 year old son in a bad car accident. We know he is in a better place and we will see him again some day.
Again, thank you very much for the pillow case it is truly a blessing and I’m sure many kids are going to enjoy them.

God Bless you and all your helpers,

    Shelly Scharlow

I don’t know if you remember me. I hope you do. I remember you all very well. My 9 year old son, Franklin, recieved a pillowcase the other day after an EEG. He has gotten many different gifts and treats after tests and procedures at DeVos, but for some reason, this was a real treasure for him. Probably partly to do with how tired he was!! 😉 Anyway, today, I finally got around to washing it and saw the paper that it came with and thought, “I know of a Jackson. Wouldn’t that be something if this has anything to do with him and his family.” Then I figured that was quite a stretch. But I came up to look it up. And here it was. It’s amazing to me how God’s love and blessings continue on…Thank you for being a blessing to my son and me. Thank you for sharing jackson’s memory with us. Every time I see this pillowcase, I will think of him and you and say a prayer of thanksgiving.

Thank you so much for the pillow case! We received it at the Devos Children’s Hospital before our 5hour surgery. It made the uncomfortable situation better. We read about Jackson’s story. We were sad to hear the outcome But rejoice with you that he is healed and in perfect condition in heaven.
    Thank you for your generosity.

Our daughter Tessa was gifted a beautiful pillowcase today at the Children’s hospital for a short surgery stay. We were very grateful to be welcomed with such a thoughtful and beautiful gift. The pillowcase was beautiful and warmed her room. I will keep your family and army of volunteers in my prayers. Thank you for making our stay warmer and brighter.
